Hello and Welcome! I am Tracey of we love crafty Tracey. We love crafty Tracey is a craft and party ware design studio in love with creating handmade crafty goodness. Since childhood, I have always enjoyed creating imaginative and original decor and sweets for our family birthdays, holidays and just about any event that allowed me to get my craft/bake on! I still do! I truly believe that every day should have a touch of crafty goodness.
Even though I spent my childhood and school years crafting goodness and planning parties for friends and family, I spent more than 7 years working as a technical writer focused on web applications, UI design and user experience. In 2005, I jumped at the opportunity to work as an online editor focusing on DIY and life’s big moments for a web media company. Several years later, the arrival of my second daughter, company lay-offs and the encouragement of family and friends, I started we love crafty Tracey. Whether it’s web apps or parties, it’s all about the user experience!
For me, life is all about crafting goodness, celebrating moments big and small and eating as many homemade cookies as I can get my hands on. Yum, yum and yum! I hope I inspire you to celebrate, craft, and eat cookies. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Tracey,
I ran into your page when i was doing some research.
I hope im not being too forward, however I am a mom of tow beautiful girls and im stuck in a well paying job that i do not enjoy and keeps me away from my kids more than id like.
I am considering a carear change and love crafts and parties etc.
I am however really scared at leaving my job and venturing into this field for fear of failure.
I hope i can ask a word of advise…does the type of work you do allow for a good income and do you need any special talents such as graphic arts, website training etc.
I hope im not asking too many personal questions, im just trying to make the best decision for me as well as a good living for my girls whom i love so much.
Thanking you in advance…
Melanie
Hi Melanie!
Thanks for your questions. Deciding to leave captive employment for the life of an entrepreneur is a difficult decision! This type of work does allow for a good income, but it does take time to get there, building a client base, a portfolio, a reptuation, along with having talent, passion and consistently good work. Just as all business advisors recommend, I too recommend making sure you have at least 6 months of expenses in your bank account before leaving your day job. That way you have a cushion and some time. You can always start out small, while still at your day job, test the waters and see if you like it or if your product is selling before jumping in with both feet. That may give you best of both worlds for a time, but it would also be very busy.
It is helpful to have some experience with design and web programming, if you want to design paper elements for clients or manage your own website, but you can always collaborate with others as well.
I hope this helps. Good luck with your decision!
Tracey
