canada day crafts: mason jar party cups

Good morning! We are kicking off a day of Canada Day crafts! I was really feeling that us Canadians weren’t representing by way of fun Canada Day craft ideas. Our neighbours to the South definitely have it going on with the crafty patriotism for July 4th, but we were lacking in the craft department fellow Canadians, tsk, tsk. So I thought I would offer up some of my favorite Canada Day craft ideas, show Canada Day a little love, you know what I mean?

Hence last night was Canada Day craftapalooza in my studio! I didn’t have any tutorials ready to go for my fave July 1st party crafts, but now I do.

So let’s start off this day of craft with one of my favorite ways to serve beverages at any party, the classic mason jar party cup!

There are so many ways to dress up a mason jar for serving beverages, and I have done them all! I have a serious love affair with the jam jar. I started collecting them in highschool to store all my witchy herbs and craft supplies, like my 10 lb collection of buttons. Long love affair, true everlasting love. And this classic mason jar party cup is a lovely way to serve up lemonade at your Canada Day BBQ!

All you need is a stock of mason jars, some Canada Day themed scrapbooking paper (the paper I used here is in my Canada Day DIY Printable Party), a hole punch, scissors and a pen.

Unscrew the mason jar lid from the jar and remove the center from the outer ring. Use the center as your template to trace circles onto your scrapbooking paper.

Cut out your circles and using your hole punch, punch a hole as close to the center of the circle as your hole punch will reach.

Fill your mason jar with your favorite party punch, then wipe the rim clean and dry with a paper towel.

Place the paper circle on top of the mason jar (this will replace the tin center for the time being). You can cover the paper circle with clear contact paper to help reinforce and protect the paper from spills and drips.

Using your fingertip to hold the paper circle in place, carefully screw the outer ring onto the mason jar. Pop in a straw and sip!

It’s that simple! A simple craft that can add some punch to your punch! Which reminds me, what kind of punch are you serving Canada Day? I am always on the lookout for new punch recipes! If you have a favorite, leave it in the comments below, I’d love to try it out!
