Oh happy May to you! How did it come to be May already? Wow, and where is the luscious spring weather I’ve been waiting for? I am tired of April rains (it’s May already!) and really, really want to see May flowers, brightly coloured May flowers. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of hydrangeas and peonies in my backyard, oh loverly flowers!
With all the drab and gray outside, I’ve been colour swatching inside! What is colour swatching? My own little term for preparing a selection of tried and true colours, big circles of colour organized by group and labelled with their HEX code so I can always get the right colour! Why am I doing this?
So I will always know what my printables will look like before I print them. In the past few months I have discovered that not all printers are equal. Not even at a printing company! What looks lovely on my computer screen has looked absolutely horrible printed when I pick it up at the printer. And when they print it off on another printer, it looks completely different and just as bad. So disappointing when that happens and costly. I know my files are ok, but I’m thinking one of my local printers needs to calibrate their machines.
So I wanted to put together a set of core colours that I know will look beautiful printed anywhere, but especially at home for all my crafty customers.
Truth be told, I am loving colour swatching, I really should stop. It’s just so gray and drab outside and these are just so pretty and luscious. Now i have to work on perfectly printing one of my favorite Pantone colours.
Seriously, I’ve had a roll of ribbon in this colour for a long while now. It is still lovingly spiraled around the ribbon bobbin because its my happy ribbon, when I need a pick me up I just stare at it. But I digress…
